The following position is vacant at the Center for Mathematical Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and should be filled at the earliest possible date:

Professorship (W2 with Tenure Track W3) for Economic Theory

We are looking for outstanding, internationally visible candidates in research and teaching, who work in one of the research areas of the Center for Mathematical Economics, in particular microeconomic theory, game theory, and related fields. Interdisciplinary research and teaching has traditionally played an important role at the Center for Mathematical Economics. We expect you to participate in the existing and planned joint research projects of the Center, the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and other faculties. In addition, successful third-party funding activities are desired.

The teaching is to be carried out in the economics, mathematical economic and other research-oriented degree programs of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. Participation in the doctoral program of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics is welcome.

Candidates must have a university degree in a relevant academic discipline. The ability to carry out research has to be proven by the quality of the doctoral degree, and pedagogical skills are to be proven by appropriate experience or may be established during the appointment procedure. Candidates must also have further academic achievements that will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively in the appointment procedure (§ 36 Higher Education Act [HG NRW]).

The W2 position is limited to five years, but designated with a tenure track option to turn into a permanent position at the level W3. The time limit is set in the context of the tenure track procedure of the University of Bielefeld with a positive evaluation based on a target agreement. In exceptional cases, a decision may be made earlier. Applicants are expected to have developed a promising research profile for the W2 tenure position in the period following their doctorate and to possess the educational and personal qualifications required to hold the professorship. Family times are taken into account in the selection decision.
