Faculty of Physics is seeking to appoint as soon as possible:
Professorship in Experimental Physics (W2 with tenure track W3)
We are looking for an outstanding scientist with international
reputation in the field of materials-oriented “hard” condensed matter
physics, who strengthens the local research activities
(www.physik.uni-bielefeld.de). Possible research directions include,
but are not limited to the development, synthesis, advanced
characterization and application of novel magnetic (2D and 3D),
topological, quantum, hybrid (2D and 3D) or energy materials.
The new professor is expected to participate and take a leading role in the Collaborative Research Centre initiative "Controlling Functionality in Hybrid Systems". Participation in teaching the curriculum in Experimental Physics both at the undergraduate and graduate level (German and English) as well as service in faculty and university bodies are further important duties of the professorship.
Employment prerequisites are a university degree, teaching ability, specialized skills for scientific work, in general documented by a doctoral thesis in physics or related fields, and additional scientific achievements, which will be evaluated in the hiring procedure.
The W2 appointment is limited to five years with a target agreement being formulated after the appointment. A positive evaluation in the final year will then lead to a W3 professorship.
W2 tenure tracks are a firmly established equal-opportunity employment variant at Bielefeld University. Tenure track professors are offered a target-group-specific personnel development programme providing support when first coming to Bielefeld, in preparing for the interim evaluation, in preparing for the tenure evaluation, and in organizing – after a positive evaluation – the transitional phase to a W3 professorship.
Applications from suitably qualified handicapped or severely handicapped candidates are explicitly welcome.
Bielefeld University has received a number of awards for its achievements in the area of equal opportunity and has been acknowledged as a family-friendly university. The university welcomes applications from women. This is particularly true with regard to academic positions. Applications are handled according to the provisions of the State Equal Opportunity Statute.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a 2-page research and teaching concept, list of publications, list of raised third party funding, and copies of all university certificates.
