Junior Professorship (W1 with Tenure Track W2) for Multimodal Behavior Processing

Candidates should be excellent junior scientists and be able to contribute to research and teaching in one or several of the following areas: social signal processing, multimodal interaction processing, human performance capture.
The successful candidate will be able to support our strong interdisciplinary research on real-time interactive systems in virtual reality through work on the recognition or interpretations of interaction-related multimodal user signals or behavior, e.g., facial expressions, gesture, gaze, attention, emotion.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in the interdisciplinary research center “Cognitive Interaction Technology” (CITEC) at Bielefeld University, and should be open to interdisciplinary cooperation within the department and the university.
Candidates are expected to have strong teaching capabilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to provide lectures in basic computer science as well as in their specialized topics. They should participate actively in the development of the bachelor, master, and PhD programs in computer science.
Appointment requires a university degree and a qualified PhD in a relevant subject as well as pedagogical aptitude. The contract will initially be for three years, with the possibility of extension for another three years, given a positive intermediate evaluation. If the final evaluation is positive, the position will be transformed into a permanent W2 professorship. Evaluations are regulated according to the statute for tenure track W1 professorships.
W1 tenure tracks are a firmly established equal-opportunity employment variant at Bielefeld University.
