Before moving to Bielefeld, Lena Plein studied at Trier University, where she received her Bachelor's degree in 2017. In her bachelor thesis she investigated the normative and emotional attachment of protesters to the German state and examined whether this could serve as a protective factor against legal transgressions and radicalization. She continued her studies at Bielefeld University the same year. Since February 2018 she is working as a research assistant in the Department of Differential Psychology, Personality and Psychological Assessment to support the research project of Dr. Anna Kornardt, entitled "Personality development in older age".
