Titel: "High Quality Studies and High Quality Students"

Bielefeld University, as do many other universities, presents its educational mission in terms of a high "Anspruch an die Qualität". Any discussion of means should include a continuous reflection upon ends. What is entailed by concepts of high quality teaching, high quality study induction or high quality students? If quality is defined as fitness for purpose, which, and whose, are the purposes? By pursuing these questions the lecture intends to clarify some trade-offs when inviting, supporting and pushing young persons towards a realization of our conception of the good student.
