Data literacy is the ability to deal with data in a planned manner and to use and question it consciously in the respective context: Where to find suitable data? How do you collect and evaluate data? Which data can actually be used and how?
The collection and management up to the critical evaluation and application of data requires basic skills. Students need these in order to be able to act scientifically and socially in all sectors and disciplines in the future and to shape the digital transformation.
Therefore, it is the aim of the joint project DataLiteracySkills@OWL (DaLiS@OWL) of the Universities of Bielefeld, Paderborn and the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld to anchor data literacy as a teaching and learning goal across universities and to create awareness of the importance and necessity of data (literacy).
DaLiS@OWL supports lecturers and departments in meeting the challenge of developing concepts for courses in order to equip students of all subjects with the necessary data skills.
We at DaLiS@OWL are working on
There is already a Data Literacy module for students at Bielefeld University.
To be expanded!
