Quality assurance and surface finish

How clean is clean? How smooth is smooth? How good is a surface really? Why can the slightest impurities cause huge problems in production processes? Has a material or production error caused the product to fail? Important quality assurance parameters such as cleanliness, roughness or material homogeneity can be measured from the micrometer scale down to the atomic scale by the light and electron microscopic methods of BINAS.

New properties, new opportunities

Would you like to apply an anti-reflective coating or chemically modify your surfaces and prevent soiling? Perhaps you also want to minimize abrasion or make the workpiece biocompatible? BINAS supports you in choosing the right coating and characterization technology and in the first coating tests from the micrometer scale to the atomic dimension!

Biomedical technologies

At BINAS, we are developing new, powerful methods for biological-medical diagnostics for the stain-free detection of proteins in gels (proteomics) or the detection of bacterial or viral infections, as well as for the early detection of tumours.

Structuring of surfaces

Whether you want to develop new storage media, holographic security certificates, optical gratings or miniaturised electrical circuits, for all these applications you need know-how and methods for production and characterisation from the micrometer to the nanometer range, as you will find at BINAS.

Using nanoparticles to create new sensors

Today, modern sensor technology can be used to control airbags and anti-lock braking systems, but also to develop new diagnostic procedures for diseases. At BINAS, for example, magnetic, molecule-carrying nanoparticles can be detected with extreme sensitivity using electrical sensors in similar processes that will also be used for the non-volatile storage of huge amounts of data in future computers.
