The Alexander von Humboldt Professorship is awarded annually by the Foundation to up to ten world-leading researchers working abroad in all disciplines. The aim is to offer them and their teams a permanent perspective in Germany. Award money of up to 5 million euros for researchers working experimentally and 3.5 million euros for researchers working theoretically is made available over a period of five years. The Humboldt Professorship is one of the most prestigious awards and has been granted since 2008.
