The University of Alberta (Faculty of Education) and Bielefeld University (Faculty of Educational Science) were holding an academic workshop on Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice: School Research in Canada and Germany in September 2018 in Edmonton. Further joint research projects will follow. Further information here.

Bielefeld University and the University of Alberta have a long-lasting cooperation in the field of Mathematics: In 2018/19 Dr. Timo Spindeler from Bielefeld University collaborates with Prof. Nicolae Strungaru from the UoA and from the MacEwan University. The research interest of Prof. Strungaru is in the area of Aperiodic Order: ‘I am interested in mathematical problems related to physical diffraction, with particular interest in Meyer sets, cut and project schemes, spectral theory and almost periodicity.’ The main goal of his research is to understand better the connection between the diffraction of solids and their atomic structure.
