Online writing Workshop:

Using writing to balance identity, integrity, and well-being - in academia and beyond

Dr. Vera Leberecht | March 18th 2025 | 10:00 a.m. (s.t.) - 16:30 p.m. | Zoom-Link: t.b.a.

A PhD brings about great changes in life. However, we often focus on content-related and academic challenges and don’t find the time to think about the ‘why’ or ‘what for’ of our research work.

This workshop offers a space to reflect on issues of purpose, integrity and identity. We use writing to explore how we can ‘make sense’ and find a sustainable balance in our academic workplaces and beyond.

By the end of the day, you have:

  • used various writing strategies and exercises to (re-)connect with your work, your colleagues, and yourself;
  • practiced sharing and ‘hearing others into speech’;
  • deepened your understanding of your professional and personal values and goals;
  • started to define which next steps you want to take on your journey within and beyond academia.

In this workshop, we work with individual writing exercises, circles of trust, powerful questions, and short trainer inputs.

This workshop adresses:

Doctoral and other early-career researchers who want to reflect on their mental well-being.

Registration possible until February 27, 2025.

Trainer:

Dr. Vera Leberecht (Maastricht/NL) studied Linguistics, Intercultural Communication and Theology in Germany and Finland. She worked at Maastricht University Language Centre for several years before starting her own training and consulting business in 2008. She is enthusiastic about empowering professionals to communicate with reason and resonance, in academia and beyond.
