The Faculty of Chemistry at Bielefeld University seeks to appoint a

Professor (W3) of Biochemistry

at the earliest possible date.

Bielefeld University is a research-intensive university with international appeal and innovative teaching concepts. With around 3,500 staff and 25,000 students, it comprises 14 Faculties including Natural and Technical Sciences and Medicine. One focus of research at the Faculty of Chemistry is in the field of Life Science Chemistry.

The Faculty of Chemistry invites applications from scientists with an international reputation for outstanding research in experimental biochemistry, including the investigation of molecular mechanisms in the context of the cell. We expect a meaningful complementation of the research areas that already exist in the Faculty and the willingness to actively contribute to overarching foci of research and future collaborative research programmes of the Faculty and University, e.g. on oxygen-dependent enzyme reactions. A connection to molecular medicine is desired.

The Faculty of Chemistry attaches great importance to the quality of teaching and to student support. In teaching, the advertised professorship represents the subject of biochemistry in its entire breadth within the framework of the B.Sc. and M.Sc. biochemistry programmes, the doctoral programme in Chemistry as well as in other subject-related degree programmes.

The requirements for employment are in accordance with § 36 HG NRW.
