The Medical School OWL at Bielefeld University intends to fill at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Campus Bielefeld-Bethel (CBB) a

Professorship for (Internet-)Intervention and Psychotraumatology (W1)

at the earliest possible date.

At Bielefeld University, an innovative Medical School with an interdisciplinary individual and population medicine orientation and the University Medical Center OWL (UMC OWL), with the Klinikum Bielefeld, Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel (EvKB), and Klinikum Lippe as holders, are established. We are looking for personalities who want to seize the development situation and its challenges as a chance and actively participate in research, teaching, patient care, and organization. We offer an exciting environment that opens up a wide range of opportunities. You will be significantly involved in the further planning and implementation of the model study program in human medicine (according to ÄApprO), as well as in implementing the "clinician" and "advanced clinician scientist" programs, and you will have the opportunity to apply innovative concepts in teaching. At the same time, you will take on a significant role in developing an interconnected, inter/nationally competitive research profile "Medicine for people with disabilities and chronic diseases".

The call aims at personalities at an early stage of their career with outstanding scientific potential who can represent the field of expertise in research, teaching and patient care in an appropriate breadth.

The prerequisites are:

  • a completed degree in psychology (diploma/master's degree)
  • licence to practise as a psychological psychotherapist in cognitive behavioural therapy
  • a qualified, relevant doctorate in the field of expertise
  • very well scientific achievements in the field of clinical (Internet-)Intervention and Psychotraumatology
  • very good knowledge of statistics and methods
  • clinical experience in the field of mental disorders
  • experience in planning and conducting preclinical and clinical studies
  • connectivity to the research profile of the Medical School OWL
  • relevant teaching experience and ideally experience with innovative teaching formats in the subject to be represented.

Desired are:

  • international co-operation experience
  • initial experience in the (co-)acquisition and organization of third-party funding respectively third-party funded projects
  • initial experience in working with clinically active physicians and psychologists/psychotherapists in psychiatric/psychosomatic specialties
  • management experience in the clinical field
  • initial experience and active involvement in the equality-oriented promotion of young scientists
  • recognition as a DBT therapist.

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Bielefeld-Bethel Campus (CBB) is a very large clinic in the region and in the UMC OWL with 436 beds and day clinic places (incl. inpatient- equivalent treatment) as well as a large outpatient clinic and serves the entire city of Bielefeld as an epidemiological catchment area. The clinic academically integrates the head physician-led Clinic for Psychotherapeutic and Psychosomatic Medicine. The spectrum of the clinic encompasses psychiatry and psychotherapy in its entire breadth and is organized into specialist focus areas. Traditionally, there is a strong clinical focus on community psychiatry and psychotherapy as well as neuropsychiatry and neuropsychology. Close clinical cooperation exists with the specialist areas of Neuromedicine and Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the CBB.

As the holder of this position, you will be responsible for developing a profile in the field of (Internet-) Intervention and Psychotraumatology. Clinical and preclinical research will be further developed and implemented as part of a structural and development concept for the department that you will be involved in (The research focuses to date can be found at https://evkb.de/kliniken-zentren/psyche-nerven/psychiatrie-und-psychotherapie/ueber-uns/).

Further expansion of clinical-translational and preclinical research is expected. In addition to the structures of the existing research department, the establishment of an interdisciplinary neurocore facility is planned, and a neuromodulation unit is currently being set up in collaboration with the University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the CBB and the Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors at TU Dortmund University (IFADO).

We expect networking with other departments of the UMC OWL, other faculties of Bielefeld University, and the medical community in private practice in the region, as well as a high willingness to address age-, gender- and diversity-related issues to improve healthcare practice. Accordingly, we are looking for a personality with leadership experience and expertise in the entire field and excellent communication and coordination skills.

The requirements for employment follow § 36 HG. The appointment is initially limited to three years with an option of extension for a further three years following a positive interim evaluation. The tasks within patient care, including the right to liquidation, will be regulated via a contract for chief physicians with the EvKB.
