Current call for proposals

The Faculty of Mathematics is seeking to fill the following position at the earliest possible date

Professorship (W3) for Mathematics, in particular Applied Mathematics

We are looking for a colleague

  • who conducts outstanding research,
  • whose research focus in applied mathematics expands the existing research profile of the Faculty of Mathematics (e.g. in the direction of high-dimensional statistics, mathematical physics, discrete optimization, dynamical systems, combinatorics),
  • who can be expected to show particular commitment to teaching based on their experience in this area,
  • has experience in cooperation with other mathematical disciplines and will participate in existing and future research projects of the Faculty of Mathematics (e.g. the Collaborative Research Centers SFB 1283 and TRR 358).

It is of particular importance to us that candidates are able and willing to cooperate with colleagues from both the Faculty of Mathematics and other faculties at Bielefeld University.

We also welcome applications from candidates who have only recently fulfilled the formal requirements for hiring of university professors.

According to § 36 HG NRW, the prerequisites for employment are a completed university degree, special aptitude for academic work, which is demonstrated by the quality of the doctorate, pedagogical aptitude, which is documented by appropriate previous education, as well as additional academic achievements, which are evaluated exclusively and comprehensively in the appointment procedure.
