Successful research and development on principles and applications of human-centered automation cannot be done by one research institute or innovation lab alone. It requires a joint cross-domain and interdisciplinary effort. Therefore, we highly value the long-standing collaboration with our regional, national and international scientific as well as professional partners.
Fraunhofer IOSB-INA in Lemgo is a leading research institution in the Intelligent Technical Systems network in Ostwestfalen-Lippe "it's OWL" and a core partner in the Competence Center for Digital SMEs in NRW. Application knowledge of industrial automation - intelligent networking, analysis and monitoring as well as user-friendly design of technical systems - are its core competencies.
Industrial partners are equipment suppliers, machine and plant manufacturers, and operators of automated technical systems. With SmartFactoryOWL and Lemgo Digital, IOSB-INA offers partners such as the CoR-Lab outstanding real laboratories for support in the digital transformation of industry and municipalities.
As a long-standing partner of CoR-Lab, the industry and competence network OWL Maschinenbau unites over 200 members from the mechanical engineering cluster in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. For over 17 years, owl maschinenbau has been working with great commitment and in close exchange with its members and partners for the long-term success of the mechanical engineering region OWL.
With agile adaptation and new forms of cooperation, the association meets current issues and the challenges of the future. Joint events with the CoR-Lab take place, among others, in the form of the annual OWL appearance at the Hanover Fair, or in specialized events such as the "Machine Learning Day".
In the technology network "Intelligent Technical Systems Ostwestfalen-Lippe" (it's OWL), companies, universities, research institutions and organizations work together on the solutions of tomorrow for the vision of an Industry Zero.
Since 2012, the participation of Bielefeld University within the it's OWL programme has been strongly supported by CoR-Lab. Through a record of successfull R&D projects within it's OWL, CoR-Lab has become renowned as a reliable partner for regional industry. Besides joint projects, the network activities are comprised by a variety of transfer activities, such as workshops and lab tours.
As a strategic partner, the Honda Research Institute Europe (HRI-EU) contributed significantly to the foundation of the CoR-Lab research insitute - together with the University of Bielefeld and the federal state of NRW - in 2007 as a public-private partnership. HRI-EU had, among other things, provided two ASIMO humanoid robots to CoR-Lab for research projects in a joint graduate school from 2007-2012.
The deep and successfull relationship between HRI-EU, CoR-Lab and CITEC has continued since then with new research projects in robotics, machine learning, and driver assistance.
The goal of the Bielefeld Research and Innovation Campus (BRIC) as a joint initiative of Bielefeld University, the University of Applied Sciences, the City of Bielefeld and the IHK Bielefeld is to developt the Bielefeld Campus to a high-performance ecosystem in which synergies and bidirectional transfer potentials are activated and exploited in the area of tension between top scientific research and regional business.
In cooperation with BRIC, the CoR-Lab offers innovations and facilities for application-oriented research in the area of human-centered automation with high social and economic relevance.
