The Research Centre for Mathematical Modelling (RCM²) is a central academic institution of Bielefeld University that provides a common platform for the application of mathematics, in particular in the sciences. Since its foundation in the early days of this university, the Centre’s wide scope of mathematical research has been a unique feature of the university.
RCM² includes researchers from six faculties: Biology, Economics, Public Health, Mathematics, Physics, and Technology. The aim of RCM² is to stimulate close cooperation between scientists from such different faculties in order to effectively explore new topics of cross-disciplinary relevance.
The current main focus of the centre is on research projects in mathematical biosciences, mathematical data science and mathematical physics.
