EXTENDED DEADLINE: January 31 2025 23:59 CET

For the general comparative syntax session, we invite abstracts for 30-minute presentations (+ 10 min discussion) on any topic in comparative generative syntax.

We particularly welcome papers explicitly addressing synchronic or diachronic properties of un(der)studied varieties and/or phenomena, and papers concerned with more general questions, concerning, e.g., the relation between comparative syntax and linguistic typology, syntax-interface mappings, and our understanding of language as a cognitive system. We also encourage papers concerned with methodologies for modern comparative generative syntax.

Submission guidelines

Anonymous abstracts should not exceed 800 words (without references). Please use 12-point Times New Roman font, with single spacing and margins of at least 2.54cm/1 inch. Abstracts should be uploaded in pdf format via EasyAbstracts here: https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/BieLeiCoS/

The submission deadline is extended to January 31 2025 23:59 CET

All of these providers also have a corresponding smartphone application to use.

By tram (StadtBahn)

There are four tram lines within Bielefeld.

  • The network of the tram lines can be found here.

To get to the University from Bielefeld Hbf, take the tram line 4 in the direction of Lohmannshof to the stop Universität (5 stops, ≈8 minutes). The other main stop of line 4 is Jahnplatz in the city centre (6 stops, ≈9 minutes).

Single-journey tickets, 4-journey tickets, and day-tickets can be bought at vending machines at the major stops. Please do not forget to validate your ticket once inside the tram.

Note: Unfortunately, Google Maps does not show the tram as an option for public transport in the city.

There is a plethora of bus lines in Bielefeld.

We suggest using the following websites:

The line 31 stops at the University (stop Universität). The route is more suburban than central.

For ticket information, see above. Additionally, single-journey tickets may be bought from the bus driver
in cash.
