Turning objects into smart objects is a staple of ubiquitous computing. Decreasing cost of electronics is putting them increasingly into reach of actual products. However, non-smart objects are unlikely to go anywhere any time soon. We are therefore taking an inverse approach and use flexible projection technologies like a pan-tilt projector to enable arbitrary objects to use the sensors in our smart environment. This way, we can use the extensive data gathering that happens anyway to imbue any object with all the information we have about it and display this information on the object itself or on surfaces it comes to reside on.
