Two consecutive funding phases in the Excellence Initiative allowed CITEC to assemble a strong environment of densely interacting research groups covering a large array of topics that are key to Cognitive Interaction science and technology. This has brought CITEC and Bielefeld University a high international profile in a technology and research field that is of utmost societal importance and closely linked with AI, robotics and the rapidly evolving human-technology interface.

CITEC now has shaped and benefits from a vibrant local enviroment as well as a strong network of world-wide research cooperations with leading institutions, groups and researchers. With its facilities and innovation labs, it offers a premier infrastructure that supports leading edge research and efficient interactions among participating groups, tailored to the specific needs of highly inter- and transdisciplinary research.

For a decade, researchers at the Cluster of Excellence CITEC have been working on better bridges between humans and technology. CITEC scientists explain the aspects that make the cluster unique.

On March 9, 2018, members and alumni celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Cluster of Excellence CITEC. The anniversary celebration was also attended by Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen, Minister for Culture and Science in NRW.
