Yves Breitmoser obtained a doctorate in economics from Europa-University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) in 2008. Before coming to the University of Bielefeld, he was junior faculty in Frankfurt (Oder) and Heisenberg Fellow at Humboldt University Berlin.

Prof. Dr. Christiane Clemens held assistant and associate professor positions at the Universities of Hannover, Magdeburg and Hamburg and served as visiting professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH) and visiting associate professor at the University of Washington, Seattle. She was appointed to the Chair of Macroeconomics at Bielefeld University effective from April, 2010.

Prof. Dr. Herbert Dawid obtained his doctoral degree at the Vienna University of Technology. He held assistant and associate professor positions at the University of Vienna and was an associate professor at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles before coming to Bielefeld in 2003. Prof. Dawid has published numerous articles in internationally renowned scientific journals, has obtained several research awards and is currently editor of the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and on the editorial board of several other international journals.

Prof. Dr. Ferrari obtained a Ph.D. in Mathematics for Economic-Financial Applications at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 2012. He then moved to the Center for Mathematical Economics at Bielefeld University where he was Post-doctoral researcher (2012-2016), and then Junior-Professor (2016-2017). Since December 2017 he is Professor for Mathematical Finance. Prof. Dr. Giorgio Ferrari published research paper is renowed journal in Control, Applied Probability, and Operations Research.

Manuel Förster obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paris 1 and the University of Louvain in 2014. Before coming to Bielefeld University, he was junior faculty at Saint-Louis University – Brussels and at the University of Hamburg.

In 1993, Prof. Dr. Alfred Greiner successfully completed his doctoral studies with a dissertation on a topic in innovation economics. For several years, he was a faculty member of the University of Augsburg and visiting research fellow at the New School for Social Research, New York. Since 2000, Prof. Greiner has held a position as professor for economic policy at Bielefeld University. He is a member of the International Institute of Public Finance.

Julian Hinz obtained his PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2016. Before joining Bielefeld University he was Postdoc at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence.
Research Interests: International trade, international migration, applied econometrics.
Research Interests: My primary research interest lies in the formation of and the information flow within social networks. Other research interests include the axiomatic characterisation of power indices in sophisticated control structures such as effectivity functions or control games. I have also been working in classical cooperative game theory, developing axiomatic characterisations of allocations rules and bargaining solutions.
Tomasz Makarewicz finished his PhD at CeNDEF, University of Amsterdam, in 2014. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the MACFINROBODS project (2014-17) and Bamberg University (2017-20), and as a visiting professor at University of Halle (2019-20). He joined Bielefeld University in 2020 as a Junior Professor in 2020.
Research interests: behavioral economics, experimental economics, heterogenous expectations, macro-financial stability.
Max Nendel obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics at University of Konstanz in 2017. He joined the Center for Mathematical Economics at Bielefeld University as postdoctoral researcher in 2018 and became an assistant professor in 2021.

Prof. Riedel obtained a Ph.D. at Humboldt University in 1998. The doctoral thesis won the Humboldt prize. Afterwards, he was Assistant Professor at Humboldt University until 2002, when he went to UC Berkeley as a Postdoc. He then was Feodor-Lynen-Fellow at Stanford University before becoming Professor at Bonn University. He joined the Center for Mathematical Economics in 2007. His coauthors include Mathematicians, Biologists, and Linguists. Prof. Riedel has published articles in renowned journals in Economics, Mathematics, and Biology.

Maren Diane Schmeck obtained her Ph.D in Mathematical Finance from Oslo University, Norway, in 2012. Afterwards she has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Mathematical Institut, University of Cologne. Before she joined the IMW (Center for Mathematical Economics), Bielefeld University, she has been substituting a professorship at LMU, Munich. She is appointed as associate professor at Bielefeld University since April 2023.

Gerald Willmann obtained a PhD in economics from Stanford University in 2000. Before coming to the University of Bielefeld, he was junior faculty at the University of Kiel and associate professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Dr. Anna Zaharieva obtained her doctorate in Quantitative Economics at the University of Konstanz in the year 2010. Earlier in 2008 she had completed her doctoral studies in Mathematical Finance at the Russian Plekhanov Academy of Economics. In the year 2010 she was appointed as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bielefeld.

Prof. Dr. Matthias Amen worked in industry before starting his academic carrier. He was member of universities in Paderborn, Passau, Berne (Switzerland), Duisburg-Essen and Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Passau with a dissertation on combinatorial optimization in cost-oriented assembly line balancing. For several years he worked parallel at university and at the transaction advisory services of one of the big international auditing companies where he specialized in restructuring and valuation. He attained the habilitation at University of Duisburg-Essen with a thesis on simulation analysis of international accounting for pensions. Since 2008 he is professor for quantitative accounting and financial reporting at Bielefeld University.

Sabrina Backs is Assistant Professor of entrepreneurship at Bielefeld University. She holds a PhD in management from Bielefeld University with a work on knowledge and technology transfer between the academic and business world.
In her research she focuses on entrepreneurial ecosystems, the ‘third mission’ of universities, and gender differences. She has published in journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Entrepreneurship Education, or The Journal of Technology Transfer.
Since June 2021, Kai Bormann is Professor of Human Resource and Family Business Management at Bielefeld University. He joined Bielefeld University in 2017 as an Assistant Professor. He received his doctoral degree from TU Dortmund University and holds a German Diploma in Business Administration after studying at Bielefeld University, Trier University and Aarhus School of Business (Denmark). Kais research has been published in leading journals such as Journal of Management, The Leadership Quarterly, or European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology.
Research Interests: Leadership in organizations, change management in family businesses, organizational attachment, and behavioral ethics.
Prof. Dr. Reinhold Decker majored in industrial engineering with specializations in operations research and computer science. He completed his doctoral studies with a thesis on the "Analysis and simulation of buying behavior in consumer goods markets" at the University of Karlsruhe in 1993. Prof. Decker was a faculty member in Karlsruhe and visiting professor at the University of Vienna before joining the Department of Economics and Business Administration in 1997. He is actively involved in several research and technology transfer activities at Bielefeld University.

Prof. Dr. Christina Hoon obtained her doctoral degree from Leibniz University Hannover. She joined Bielefeld University in 2015, and holds the chair of Family Business. As a lecturer, she is present in various forms of teaching and offers seminars and workshops around the topic of family businesses.

Prior to joining the Business Administration and Economics Department at Bielefeld University in 1995, Hermann Jahnke was visiting professor at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and professor for Business Administration at Cologne University. He completed his Habilitation in Operations Management at the Institute for Logistics & Transport and his PhD at the Institute for Statistics and Econometrics, both at Hamburg University. He has published a number of articles in international journals including Decision Sciences, the European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & OR, the International Journal of Production Economics, and the Journal of Mathematical Modelling and Algorithms.

Prof. Dr. Peter Limbach joined the University of Bielefeld in May 2021 as Professor of Corporate Finance and Governance. He holds a German Diploma (equivalent to MSc) in economics from the University of Bonn and a PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) in finance from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (supervisors: Martin Ruckes, Werner F.M. De Bondt). He spent several months at the Rotterdam School of Management as a visiting PhD. After his PhD, Peter was a postdoctoral researcher at the KIT before joining the University of Cologne as the CFR Junior-Professor of Investments in 2016. In 2020, he substituted the Professorship Financial Economics (Prof. Dr. Isabel Schnabel) at the University of Bonn. Peter has taught MBA and PhD courses at several universities, such as HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the Universities of Dortmund, Gießen, Göttingen and Wuppertal. He was awarded the Junior Teaching Award of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne. Peter is a research member of the Centre for Financial Research (CFR). His research articles have been published in leading scientific journals in accounting and finance, including The Accounting Review, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the Journal of Corporate Finance.

Michael Römer joined Bielefeld University in Dember 2019 and leads the Decision Analytics Group. His group is funded by the state North Rhine Westfalia in the return program ("Rückkehrprogramm") and deals with approaches combining combinatorial optimization and machine learning for planning and decision making under uncertainty. Prior to joining Bielefeld University, Michael Römer held postdoc positions at the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto) and Polytechnique Montréal. He obtained his PhD from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg where he dealt with Airline Crew Scheduling.

Prof. Dr. Christian Stummer received his doctoral degree from the University of Vienna where he later held the position of an associate professor and made professional experiences as the head of a research group at the Electronic Commerce Competence Center (EC3) in Vienna and as a visiting professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2010, he joined Bielefeld University as a full professor for innovation and technology management. In addition, he serves as the academic director of the Center for Entrepreneurship (Zug) as well as the managing director for the Institute for Technological Innovation, Market Development, and Entrepreneurship (iTIME). His research has been widely published in various internationally renowned scientific journals mostly from the fields of Business Administration, Information Technology, and/or Operations Research.

Prof. Dr. Kevin Tierney joined Bielefeld University in April, 2018 and holds the chair of Decision and Operation Technologies. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Paderborn University. He earned his PhD from the IT University of Copenhagen in 2013, has a Masters degree in Computer Science from Brown University and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology. His research focuses on optimization and decision support methods and applications in the area of maritime logistics, as well as techniques for combining machine learning and optimization.

Prof. Dr. Dietmar Bauer obtained his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the TU Wien, Austria, in 1998. After several postdoc positions (including Newcastle University, Australia, Linköping, Sweden, and Yale, USA) he returned to the TU Wien and received the Habilitation in econometrics. In 2005 he joined the Austrian Institute of Technology to work as a statistician in transportation science. Since 2014 he holds the chair in econometrics at Bielefeld university.

Prof. Dr. Christiane Fuchs has been professor of data science at Bielefeld University since 2018. At the same time she heads a biostatistics research group and a statistical consulting unit at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. The goal of her research is to gain knowledge from data in order to make it available for medicine, the environment and society. She approached the field of data science via studies of mathematics (Hanover, London), a doctorate in statistics (Munich, Lancaster) and as a postdoc in biomedicine (Warwick, Munich).
Research Interests: Stochastic differential equation models and their statistical inference, dynamic processes in biology and medicine, uncertainty quantification, Bayesian statistics.
After completing his doctoral degree in Economics at the University of Göttingen in 2011, Prof. Dr. Roland Langrock was a member of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St Andrews, initially as a postdoc and from 2013 as a lecturer. Since 2015, he is a full professor of statistics and data analysis at Bielefeld University. In 2016, he received the Karl-Peter-Grotemeyer prize for outstanding achievements and personal engagement in teaching. In his research, Prof. Langrock focuses on statistical method development as well as applications primarily in ecology and in economics. He has published in leading statistics journals such as the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Biometrics, and Statistics in Medicine.
