2022.11.(08-09) // Workshop on 'Value of Information and Further Advancement'

The joint "4th Workshop on Value of Information and Further Advancement" took place from Tuesday, November 8th to Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, at Bielefeld University. It is part of our cooperation between Bielefeld University, the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) and the University of Oldenburg. Thanks to all the participants for making it successful!

2022.10.(24-28) // Professor Sebastian Anita Visit

Professor Sebastian Anita, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Iasi, Romania, will visit the VoI group at Bielefeld University in the week October 24-28. During this week, Sebastian will also be available to discussions and personal meetings. Sebastian works on harvesting problems applying optimal methods on age-structured population models and spatial models.

2023.09.15 // Paper publication

The latest research paper by Julia Müller and Thorsten Upmann, titled 'Eigenvalue Productivity: Measurement of Individual Contributions in Teams', has been published in the PLOS ONE. Congratulations to both them! DOI: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0273623

2022.09.(04-06) // 23rd Annual BIOECON conference

Amelie attended the 23rd annual BIOECON conference on Biodiversity, Finance and Economy, 4th - 6th September 2022 at the University of Exeter, UK. She presented her work on "The value of monitoring information for water quality management".

2022.08.24 // Paper publication

2022.08.12 // VoI Group Retreat

A fantastic hiking retreat of the VoI group took place from Horn via Externsteine via Hermannsdenkmal to Hiddesen. A lot of informal discussions on science, history, and workings of the group. Thanks, @Amelie, for the excellent organisation of the event!

2022.08.09 // Value of Information meets Theoretical Biology Workshop

The VoI group and the group of @MeikeWittmann (Theoretical Biology) at the University of Bielfeld, conducted a joint mini-workshop where both groups present their work (topics and methods) in order to get known to each other and to identify possible themes for co-operation. The workshop took place on Tuesday, August 9 from 13:30 to 18:00.

2022.08.(09-11) // @DimitriGromov Visit to Bielefeld

@DimitriGromov visited the group from the University of Latvia from 09 August to 11 August. He attended the planned mini-workshop on August 9 and discuss on the future direction of joint project.

2022.07.(12-15) // 15th Viennese Conference

@Thorsten attended the 15th Viennese Conference on Optimal Control and Dynamic Games (VC 2022), TU Wien, Austria, July 12-15, 2022. He gave talks on "Sliding Modes in the Management of Renewable Resources" and "Differential Game of Renewable Resources with Sliding Modes and Hybrid Limit Cycles".

2022.07.(03-06) // 32nd European Conference

@Thorsten participated in the 32nd European Conference on Operational Research (EURO 2022), Espoo, Finland, July 3-6, 2022. He presented his work on "Sliding Modes in the Management of Renewable Resources".

2022.06.(23-24) // Workshop on 'Value of Information and Further Advancement'

The joint workshop on "Value of Information and Further Advancement" was successfully organised by the VoI group at HIFMB in Oldenburg from Thursday, June 23 to Friday, June 24, 2022. It is a part of our cooperation between Bielefeld University, the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg (UOL).

2019.05.(10-12) // @DimitriGromov Visit to Bielefeld

@DimitriGromov visited the group from the University of Latvia. Dmitry does research in Applied Mathematics, mainly focusing on applying control-theoretic methods to real-life problems. There was a fruitful discussion on the future direction of the joint project "optimal control of hybrid ecological-economic systems with regime switching"!
