Research is carried out at the chair within the framework of Organisational Behaviour and currently focuses (incl. dissertation projects) primarily on the following area:
The main focus here is on professor selection in the narrow sense, appointment procedures, incentives for "good teaching", professor induction/placement, personnel development for junior academics and professors, leadership of and by professors, personnel management for academic management staff, internationalisation (see also doctoral students).

Due to his leading involvement in the Institute for Family Businesses(iFUn) - East Westphalia-Lippe, various peronal-specific topics are sometimes also addressed in research.
The doctoral theses supervised by Professor Becker currently only include topics on academic personnel management and, where appropriate, personnel management in family businesses. Empirical work is being sought.
