Notes on the application documents

In addition to the documents required by the Student Office, the following documents must be uploaded as a mandatory pdf document (see also: Subject-specific regulations (FsB), item 2):

1. (Preliminary) Transcript of Records with (preliminary) final grade, i.e. a current news of Achievement (a (preliminary) final document with a (preliminary) final grade and/or a current Transcript of Records or corresponding meaningful documents). Important: A (preliminary) final grade must be shown! As an alternative to the Transcript of Records, you can also upload your summarized Certificate of Achievement.

2. Module descriptions of the degree programme, i.e. a Module Guide or comparable descriptions that provide help desk information about the individual course of study, the completed modules or the subject profile of the completed degree programme. If the document is too large to be uploaded, you can also provide us with a link via which we can access the documents.

3. GRE/GMAT score

4. Proficiency in English either verified by a language test (TOEFL or equivalent) or by a qualifying degree from an English-speaking institution. Admission also requires that the applicant has a proven knowledge of the English language, as the courses in the programme are taught entirely in English. Proof is deemed to have been provided if the applicant has a language certificate (in particular TOEFL (87 points in the internet-based test), IELTS (with a score of at least 5.5), UNIcert (level II), Cambridge (Certificate in Advanced English)) generally recognised by German universities, which proves at least a language level of level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), or a comparable certificate, see Guidelines of Bielefeld University on the language level in German and English. A certificate from a state or state-recognised school (e.g. German Abitur) or university that explicitly shows English language skills at level B2 of the CEFR also counts as proof of language proficiency. If the university entrance qualification or an English-language university degree was obtained in Australia, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America, no further language certificate is required.

German language skills are beneficial for studying, but do not have to be proven. The experience of past cohorts shows that basic knowledge of the German language (at least level A2 of theCEFR) makes a strong contribution to the successful completion of the degree programme.

If already available, please optionally submit the following documents as well:

1. Diploma supplement, which is usually handed out with the degree certificate. As an alternative to the Diploma Supplement, you can also upload a document showing the course contents (Examination Regulations, Subject-Specific Regulations or Module Guide).

2. Bachelor 's degree certificate or the certificate of the degree programme which is the admission requirement or the degree certificate of the first university degree.

The submitted documents serve as the basis for assessing your suitability. In addition to a formal examination of your degree, an assessment is made of the following acquired in the degree programme you completed:

• knowledge in mathematics,
• knowledge in quanitative methods,
• GRE/GMAT score (exam),
• knowledge in microeconomics and
• knowledge in macroeconomics.

Note: Any additional knowledge and qualifications acquired outside the curriculum of the qualified degree can be taken into account when awarding points if they compensate for missing competencies in terms of the criteria listed above.
